He
is an artist deeply committed to the classical traditions of landscape
and figurative painting.
His landscape influences include such masters of the early California
era as Edgar Payne,
William Wendt and Guy Rose. He has studied with contemporary landscape
masters MacPhearson, Oberg, Budicin, Smith and Whitcomb. His figurative
works are influenced by such classic masters as, Delacroix, Velazques,
Sorrolla and Sargent. He has studied with and been influenced
by contemporary figurative masters Nelson Shanks, Daniel Green, Richard
Schmidt
and Sebastian Capella (appointed artist to the Royal Court of Spain).
Patrick's award winning work has been published by Harper and Row and
others.
His works are in numerous private and corporate collections. He is a member
of the American Society of Portrait Artists, California Art Club and Oil
Painters of America.
His
figurative and portrait works are painted mostly from life. He intermingles
the use of photographs when necessary due to client's time constraints.
When not painting models he is, more often than not, on the road seeking
out the most dynamic natural locations to set up his easel and paint "en
plein air". For it is working directly from nature and live models
that he captures and transforms the subtleties of mood, light and atmosphere
that transport the viewer most intimately to the scene.
